Concludes with 600+ physical and 2500+ remote Attendees
Kuala Lumpur – The Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Conference 2025, hosted by the PKI Consortium, concluded today at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre, marking three days of deep technical sessions, policy discussions, and hands-on workshops focused on preparing digital ecosystems for the quantum era.
The conference brought together over 600 participants from government agencies, enterprises, and academic institutions across 30 + countries, making it one of the largest PQC-focused gatherings in the Asia-Pacific region to date.
Malaysia’s Leadership in the Quantum-Safe Future
The event opened with remarks from the Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital (Malaysia), who outlined the nation’s vision for a quantum-secure ASEAN and emphasized the importance of interoperability, standards development, and workforce readiness.
In support, the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) presented Malaysia’s national PQC readiness roadmap, detailing public-sector pilot programs, early adoption of hybrid cryptography, and new frameworks for cryptographic agility. Together, these initiatives underscored Malaysia’s emerging role as a regional leader in post-quantum implementation policy.
Workshops and Technical Highlights
Tuesday, October 28 – Hands-On Workshops:
Attendees participated in immersive, in-person sessions designed for implementation teams. Highlights included:
- Advancing CBOM: Hands-On with CycloneDX v1.7 and PKI Extensions led by Michael Osborne (IBM Quantum Safe);
- Securing the Healthcare Sector in the Quantum Era moderated by Scott Rea and Anestis Bechtsoudis; and
- PQC Migration from Asset Inventory to Crypto-Agility led by Tomas Gustavsson (Keyfactor) with Chris Hickman and Tony Chen.
Wednesday and Thursday – Conference Sessions and Panels:
The mid-week sessions built momentum with plenary addresses, technical tracks, and executive panels.
- Albert de Ruiter (Vice Chair, PKI Consortium) opened with “Defining the Global PQC Imperative.”
- Pieter Schneider (Quantum Secure Cryptography at MinBZK, NL) invited to “Get Fit for Qubit: The Dutch Approach to a Quantum Secure Society” before “Navigating the Quantum Era – A Strategic Path to Resilience” with other experts in this panel.
- Alessandro Amadori (TNO) presented new migration data and benchmarking insights.
- Alexander Löw (Data-Warehouse GmbH) led a panel on Modernizing PKI Infrastructure for the Quantum Transition.
Breakouts addressed topics such as hybrid cryptographic protocols, IoT and embedded system deployment, certificate-based PQC implementation, and international policy alignment.
“The energy and expertise at this conference demonstrate how quickly PQC readiness is shifting from concept to execution,” said Leigh Bailey, spokesperson for the PKI Consortium. “Malaysia’s leadership has set the tone for regional collaboration that will influence global adoption.”
