Today the official kick off meeting of the project on Quantum-Proofing European Public Administrations (Q-PrEP) took place online.
29 attendees from several countries within the EU came together and had a lively and worthful discussion on security challenges, especially in public and other digital infrastructure.
After a brief welcome and introduction to the project by Harald Cremer, Managing Director of NMWP Management GmbH, Adrian Neal, Global Lead – Post-Quantum Cryptography, Capgemini, reported on the relevance of crypto agility for cyber security.

Mathias Schumacher, one of the project managers Q-PrEP from NMWP, then reported on the current project status and onboarding.
Daniel Schoeman, Senior expert PQC at Capgemini and Mathias Schumacher then reported on the technical issues that the project will be working on in the future.
Hendrik Meer, Q-PrEP project manager from Capgemini, moderated the kick-off.
Q-PrEP is funded by the European Union and is managed by Capgemini Engineering Deutschland SAS & CO KG and NMWP Management GmbH.
The aim of the project is to bring together the national and European cyber security agencies with developers & providers of IT solutions, public administrations, and related entities to tackle the challenge imposed to state-of-the-art information & communication privacy by evolving Quantum Computing (QC).
Following a pragmatic approach focused on swift & coordinated action to advance realization of quantum-safe cryptography, by means of Post-quantum Cryptography (PQC), Q-PrEP aims at a:
1️⃣ Creating and aligning awareness – a joint understanding of cybersecurity issues related to QC, suitable counter measures & strategies, and best-practices of PQC communication among public administrations in Europe
2️⃣ Facilitating Collaboration – conducting workshops, composing technical work groups, and compiling whitepapers provides “melting-pots” of knowledge & expertise in PQC and beyond for mutual benefit
3️⃣ Developing a roadmap – condensing the collaborative efforts into a comprehensive guide to assist public administrations in promoting and implementing PQC
